Brookline, MA – March 1, 2024
Tropical Weather Analytics, Inc. (TWA), a weather satellite company on a mission to reduce the impact of Climate Change through advanced forecasting, has announced that their space-based, NASA award-winning 3D wind and cloud measurement technology will be adapted to low-cost, ground-based weather stations to be deployed in nations that lack comprehensive weather radar coverage.
Tod’Aérs Global Network (TGN), a renowned company specializing in global network infrastructure and actively involved in the United Nation’s EarlyWarning4All initiative, will collaborate with TWA to deploy thousands of low-cost weather stations to provide early warning forecasts to populations that are hardest hit by weather events caused by Climate Change.
TWA’s commitment to advancing weather technology aligns seamlessly with TGN’s expertise, creating a partnership that will revolutionize how nations prepare for and respond to weather-related challenges. The joint venture seeks to address the critical need for reliable and affordable weather monitoring in regions where traditional radar systems are inaccessible or cost-prohibitive.
The innovative low-cost weather stations will leverage cutting-edge sensor technologies and connectivity solutions. TWA has developed the unique cloud and 3D wind measuring techniques over twenty years and validated the measuring technology over a five-year mission on the International Space Station.
“This partnership with Tod’Aérs Global Network marks a significant milestone in our mission to make advanced weather forecasting accessible to all nations. Together, we are combining expertise to address the urguent need for reliable weather data in regions that have traditionally faced challenges in this regard. In addition to improving weather forecasts, the nations will be able to sell the weather data collected from these stations so we are solving the weather problem as well as providing them with a revenue stream,” said Dan Harkins, COO of Tropical Weather Analytics, Inc.
“We’re thrilled to embark on this transformative collaboration. This underscores our unwavering commitment to addressing the pressing climate challenges faced by communities across Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America, particularly in Small Island Developing States and Emerging Market Developing Economies. By adapting NASA award-winning space technology to ground-based weather stations, we’re not just revolutionizing weather monitoring; we’re empowering vulnerable populations with life-saving early warning forecasts. Together with TWA, we will be advancing weather technology, but also fostering resilience, safeguarding lives, and driving positive social impact to those most affected by climate change,” stated Manuel Ntumba, Chief Risk Officer & Member of the Governing Board of Tod’Aérs Global Network [TGN]
The partnership between Tropical Weather Analytics, Inc. and Tod’Aérs Global Network signifies a major leap forward in global weather monitoring capabilities. By deploying these unique and affordable weather stations, the project will help empower nations with the tools they need to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events and build resilience in the face of growing climate challenges.
